Demetra Pitta-Pantazi

Demetra Pitta-Pantazi is a Professor in Mathematics Education at the Department of Education of the University of Cyprus. She has participated in a number of research projects funded by the European Union (e.g., KeyCoMath, InnoMathEd, Galgeo), the Cyprus Research Foundation (e.g. Identifying and nurturing mathematical gifted students) and the University of Cyprus. Since 2009 she is one of the members of the National Committee appointed by the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture for the Reform of Mathematics Curriculum for Grades K-12 and since 2010 one of the scientific advisors appointed by the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture for the development of mathematics textbooks for all public primary schools. Dr Pitta-Pantazi is a member of the editorial boards of several international mathematics education journals including, Educational Studies in Mathematics, International Journal of Science and Mathematics Education, and The Journal of Mathematical Behavior. Her research interests focus on students’ cognitive development in mathematics, mathematical thinking, and mathematics curriculum. Finally, she has published extensively journal articles, books, book chapters and articles in conference proceedings.
